his wife, Cheryl . With venues such as the Sunset Sounds in Colchester,
Connecticut to the beautiful grounds of the Goodspeed Opera House next
to the Connecticut River in East Haddam, the Colchester Civic Orchestra
has delighted audiences with such selections as Rossini's Barber of Seville,
Mozart's Marriage of Figaro and other classics to the present day show
stopping hits of Phantom of the Opera and Titanic.
Colchester Civic Orchestra plays a wide repertoir and many types of events.

casual and modern approach to the musical selections. In addition to the
Orchestra and Choir, CCO has a String Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Jazz Band

Connecticut's
Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers Club
1972-2005 33 Years of Fiddling! |
Connecticut's
Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers Club
Our purpose is to preserve and promote the art of the old tyme fiddlin'.
The art of old time fiddling has been passed down from generation to generation
and learned by ear. Each fiddler has his own style of playing a particular
tune. Group playing of old tyme tunes by ear is what makes our Club unique.
This is the old New England Fiddle Band style of playing.
We are over 100 members, whose age ranges from 9 to 92. Most of our
members play the fiddle. However, to accompany the fiddlers and add variety,
we have musicians who play: mandolins, guitars, bass, banjos, spoons,
washtub, piano, button-boxes, harmonicas, accordions, bone-sticks, jaw’s
harp and percussion instruments with wood block.

Connecticut
Symphonic Band
The Connecticut Symphonic Band was founded 18 years ago by Dr. William
Sand as The Sister Cities Band. Several years later its name
was changed upon its incorporation as the Connecticut Symphonic Band.
With Dr. Sand retiring this past November, Charles Brian DePaul has
been named the new music director. The group is comprised primarily
of music educators and freelance musicians, however membership is open
to any musician by an informal, but high caliber audition. Over the
past few seasons, the ranks have increased to 72 members!
Among other accomplishments, this fine group is distinguished by the
success of its past European tour and 3 Carnegie concerts. One of the
goals of the band is increasing its size to a true symphonic level.
Toward this growth, they are currently holding an ongoing membership
drive until needed positions are filled. Needed chairs can be viewed
at their website, www.ctsymphonicband.org.
On the site you will also find their roster, repertoire, and details
of the organization. Rehearsals are weekly at Stratford High School,
from 7:30PM to 9:30PM
