Sons
of Portugal Band
The Sons of Portugal Band was founded in 1940 and is one of the oldest
organizations within the Portuguese community in the city of Danbury.
The Band delights in adding a musical flare to the community's cultural
events throughout the year. Please join us for Sunday rehearsals at 10:00am
The band is always looking for new musicians! You don't have to be Portugese,
and we play a wide repertoir of concert band music, including a variety
of standard band arrangements, ranging from Portuguese marches and dance
tunes to popular tunes such as "The Love Theme from the Godfather".
The director for the Sons of Portugal Band is Steve Ortiz and the Business
Manager is Wilson Braz .

Sound
Beach Volunteer Fire Department Band
MARCHING, CONCERT, and HIGH-SOCIETY BAND
A fine community band in Old Greenwich,
Connecticut. This year marks the celebration of the group's 50th anniversary!
Sound Beach has been recently revitalized with a new director, Ms. Barbara
Freedman. Rehearsals are held the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Mondays in June, July
and August at 7:30 pm. on the second floor of the Sound Beach Volunteer
Fire Department, Sound Beach Ave, Old Greenwich. The band is open to all
ages.

South
Windsor Community Band
Great local band supported by the Town of South Windsor.
Members include quite a few band or music teachers. Since they have the
talent, they have a fine system of sharing the director's role for certain
pieces. Rehearsals are every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at the

Sphinx
Shrine Band
This friendly and award-winning band is a classic! Made up of
Shriners and associate members from the community as well, the band has
been going for 102 years. The diverse group goes from an outstanding 11
year old to a 50 year veteran of the band, but everyone is there to enjoy
the music. The band is seen and heard in charity concerts and in parades
in their crazy colored band bus.
Rehearsals are every M0nday night at 7:30 in the Sphinx Shrine off the
Berlin Turnpike in Newington

Stratford
Community Concert Band
Beyond its service to the members, the Stratford Community Concert Band
makes an important contribution to the community. During the winter, a
number of concerts are traditionally given at senior centers and convalescent
homes in the area. The group plays a broad repertoire of concert band
music. A holiday concert is also presented. During the summer months,
in addition to other sites, concerts are performed in the gazebo on Paradise
Green. Rehearsals are traditionally held during the school year on Tuesday
evenings from 7:30-9:30 PM at Stratford High School Band Room.

Thread
City Brass
The members of The Thread City Brass have been making music together since
the early 1980's. The group performs throughout eastern Connecticut and
surrounding areas, providing music for a variety of occasions, including
wedding ceremonies, receptions, cocktail hours, parties, graduations,
concerts, and recitals.

Torrington
Symphony
The Torrington Symphony is under the baton of conductor Charles Fidlar.
Since its inception, the symphony has served both Torrington and the greater
Litchfield County area, working to enhance appreciation of arts and increase
community involvement. The symphony, which includes professional musicians
as well as volunteers and semi-professionals, welcomes donations and were
awarded a grant by the Torrington Foundation for Public Giving.
The Torrington Symphony Orchestra is now auditioning for string players
in all sections. Call Harris Daigle at (860) 482-1253 to schedule an audition.

The Torrington Symphony performance: Winter Concert on Sunday, January
6 at 3 p.m. at the Torrington Middle School. This concert is the last

Connecticut
Tuba Christmas 2007 -- Clinton
Annual band gathering, part of the nationwide TubaChristmas
program, held in many cities across America. Reserved for all kinds of
Tubas and related instruments, i.e. Sousaphones, Baritones, Euphoniums
(double-bell and otherwise) of all shapes and sizes.
Gary Buttery of Connecticut
College, an enthusiastic tubist, conductor and teacher of note, has been
the local organizer and conductor of this event in Connecticut, this year
it is in Clinton, at the Morgan High School. Date: Saturday. December

& rehearsal for performers starts at 11:30AM and the concert is at
2PM. We have some great new works to premiere by arranger, Don Shirer,

special guest conductor this year.....be there or be square!

"R" Band
This community band of 10 years typically runs a 7 concert
series in the summer and a 2 concert series in the winter. The band plays
marches, patriotic sonngs, and traditional concert band music will have
you tapping your feet.
