HISTORIC "LOST BANDS" PHOTOS
With Notations
Early bands in Connecticut

Looking back at our old band roots in Connecticut, we see that the bands played a much greater part of our society just a few generations ago. Prior to time-takers like TV, movies, even the automobile, people had fewer things to do for productive use of their time. Bands historically were often tied to the military, or to businesses in the community.

If you have notes, pictures or memories of lost bands, or other band memories, please email them or mail them to the appropriate address at the bottom of this page.

Our first "Lost Bands" to show were from Northwest Connecticut. Thanks to Perry Gardner, of the Salisbury Community Band who assembled the memories and photos on these "Lost Band" pages. Here are some interesting old pictures, with information about the musicians. The accompanying notes give a peek into the lives of the band members.

The third, 1930 Salisbury Lakeside Band is not exactly "lost" since it now exists as the Salisbury Community Band. All of these are part of the legacy of bands in the area.
