It is with a great deal of pride that I send you this letter thanking each and everyone for your superb performance at Lake George last Saturday. We had many, many great comments from the audience many of whom were musicians from the various bands. One of the greatest compliments was..."I heard you guys last year and wanted to make sure I didn't miss your performance this year. It was even better than last year!" Something nice to hang your hat on (if you have a hat!) I hope that everyone had a good time. I know I did! I am looking forward to getting back with you guys soon. We have all new music to dive into. Again, thanks for your professional attitudes and enthusiasm.
~Rick Lawrence, Director of The Plainville Wind Ensemble, regarding July 19, 2008 concert

To the Plainville Wind Ensemble; Thank-you for the honor of supporting Reading Well for Kids on Tuesday evening. I had a wonderful time, the music was amazing, you are a very talented bunch and love what you are doing and that comes out in your concerts. Reading Well for Kids had a warm reception with both your audience and the members of both orchestras. We received 78 books, $3 in the donation jar and raised $40 with the bookmarkers. But more importantly we have new contacts of people that
have more books and have needs for books. There is a music teacher from New Britain that we will now be able to help. The books that Reading Well for Kids received this evening will be going to several places and some have already arrived. We have sent some of your books to a 2nd grade class in Wilmington, NC so they will have some summer reading. Some will go to hawkwing which will send them to children on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in SD, some will go to the organization Will Santa
Find Me this is based in Hartford and additionally some will go to Covenant for Care also based in CT. I sincerely thank-you all for the donations and for all of your support.

Hello Kathy, Rick and the entire Plainville Wind Ensemble. Thank you all very much for a great show. I was really impressed with the band's performance. Everyone has made great strides in their playing. I also appreciated your professional consideration of me. Vivian really is enjoying the flowers. Unfortunately, Vivian is still in the hospital. She is doing her best to recover from this extreme case of a viral infection in her lungs. I hope that the Cancer Foundation will be able to put the $100 from the drum sales to good use. I was happy to help out. Everyone in the Plainville Wind Ensemble has my respect; you are all wonderful people!! Play on!
~Greg Caputo, Guest Drummer April 8, 2008

A big heart-felt THANK YOU to the Plainville Wind Ensemble. A total of $510 was raised at the donation table, and $105 from the drum sticks signed by Greg Caputo (all monies went to the Plainville Chapter of the American Cancer Society). Please extend our thanks to the entire group from us! All I can say is, Wow. (pertaining to our April 8, 2008 performance, "Big Band Spectacular II.")

We attended the Dancing In The Stars fundraiser on February 15, 2008, with a group of eight and everyone had great praise for a wonderful night.  The Center Stage Jazz band did an excellent job playing all our favorite tunes.  We enjoyed dancing on The Celebrations Unlimited dance hall floor and had plenty of room to float around the hall.  One of the highlights of the evening was the raffles that were spaced throughout the evening which kept the guests in suspense.  The Ladies and Gents that were the dollar dancers were striking and excellent dancers.  We’re still hearing good comments from our friends on what a great time everyone had.  You know everyone had a good time because they all stayed till the end and forced the band to continue playing for another 20 minutes or so. Thanks again for a splendid evening.

Your lead Alto Sax man (Bob Blankenburg) is a dear friend of mine.  We were Navy Musician buddies many years ago and I was privileged to 'sit in' (at the 1st Tenor Sax chair) for a few minutes with your band during a rehearsal in a gymnasium somewhere there in Plainville.  I was enjoying a few days visit with Bob and his lovely wife Marilyn (Lynn) at their then Plainville home.  This was shortly after the 911 debacle that took place in Sept. of 2001.  The Plainville Wind Ensemble group is surely a winner, and the members I met were very nice to me.  I wish you all much success and 'good playing' always.
~Most sincerely,  Lyle W. Kirk --- San Antonio, Texas

I've been playing with the Plainville Wind Ensemble for over 7 years and we keep getting better every year! We have a great director who puts a new twist on every concert. And our band manager is extremely organized and enthusiastic; I don't know what we'd do without her!
